The Rabbit and the Turtle "I'm the fastest runner in the world. And I challenge anybody to race with me." The rabbit boasted to the other animals. But no one accepted the challenge, except the turtle. "I accept your challenge." "What? You, a slow-foot turtle? It must be a joke. No, no!" "Or are you afraid you'll lose, you boastful rabbit?" They agreed on the course -- the start and finish lines. The race started. And the rabbit speedily ran out of sight, leaving the turtle behind. Knowing the turtle was far, far behind, the rabbit lay down in a shade under a tree and took a nap. Meanwhile, the turtle kept walking and inching his way. When the rabbit woke up, the turtle was already near the finish line. He jumped and ran fast to beat the turtle. But it was too late. The turtle had reached the finish line first!
