Lac La Biche Homicide

Lac La Biche Homicide
On November 11, 2008 at approximately 7:20 a.m. hunters in the Lac La Biche area discovered a body in the bush off of Secondary Highway 858, 25 km north of Lac La Biche. RCMP was dispatched to the scene after the hunters were drawn to the area upon seeing a fire in this very sparsely populated area of woodland. Upon arrival investigators were able to confirm the fire area contained a human body. The fire was quickly extinguished and the area secured.

However given that the scene is in a remote location and the fire was still burning when it was discovered, the RCMP believe that someone in the hours prior to discovery, may have seen the unknown suspects drive to the remote location, and may have unloaded the body and lit it on fire.

The deceased has not yet been identified, but is believed to be a male between the age of 25 to 55. A piece of clothing (pattern) may be associated to the remains, (see attached photo).

At this point the RCMP are looking for assistance from the public regarding possible suspects and suspicious vehicles in the area at the time of the incident. The identity of the deceased is still unknown and RCMP are requesting assistance from members of the public to identify the deceased.
